I am a graduate of Carleton College, and received my Bachelor of Arts degree in linguistics. I have tutored Japanese at elementary and intermediate levels, and also worked as a teaching assistant for linguistics. I plan to continue tutoring and assisting in these fields. I also hope to continue my linguistics and Japanese studies in graduate school in the future. My favorite subject to tutor is linguistics because it is such a relatively new field, and it leaves so many opportunities for learning for both the tutee and the tutor. I believe teaching and tutoring plays a large role in shaping a person's passion for learning, and sometimes just one good experience can change your whole perspective on a subject. In my personal experience, I find that sometimes all we need is a helping hand to support us on our learning journey, and it's inspired me to try and be that supporting person.

I was also an associate director of the Department of Pharmacy at a 1000-bed private hospital in Japan for seven years, in charge of professional (pharmacists) and interprofessional (medical residents, nurses in medication use) learning. I also set up a residency program and provided bedside teaching. These valuable experiences helped me to grow in my career as a healthcare professional and teacher. I am also Board Certified in Pharmacotherapy (BCPS) and Geriatric Pharmacy (BCGP). After I moved back to New York City in 2019, I have been practicing as a pharmacist in an independent pharmacy and working as a Chinese interpreter for the City government.
