Everglades City School – Access Health and Safety

The purpose of this course is to provide students with significant cognitive disabilities access to the concepts and content of health-related curriculum. Students will learn a variety of factors that can positively or negatively impact their health and how they can develop short and/or long-term goals including implementing data-informed strategies to achieve personal health goals. The purpose of this course is to enable students who are deaf and hard-of-hearing to apply concepts, knowledge, and skills in the expanded core curriculum in the educational, home, community, and employment settings to achieve annual goals based on assessed needs and the student’s individual educational plan (IEP).
