In American Sign Language (ASL) 2 emphasis is on expanding grammatical understanding of ASL, functional application of ASL, vocabulary and understanding and appreciation of the Deaf culture and Deaf community. To encourage and foster the development of these skills, classroom communication will be in ASL. Students increase their expressive and receptive skills, increase understanding of deaf culture and history, and learn about causes and types of hearing losses. Storytelling and narratives, as well as dialogues, are used to increase understanding.
Prerequisites: Successful completion of American Sign Language 1, or equivalent.
