Correctional Services is designed to allow students to prepare for certification required for employment as a correctional officer. The student will learn the role and responsibilities of a correctional officer; relevant rules, regulations, and laws; and discuss defensive tactics, restraint techniques, and first aid procedures as used in the correctional setting. The student will analyze rehabilitation and alternatives to institutionalization. FIREFIGHTER I Firefighter is designed to introduce students to firefighter safety and development. Students will analyze the Texas Commission on Fire Protection rules, regulations, proper incident reporting, records, proper use of personal protection equipment, and the principles of fire safety. Students will be introduced to candidate physical ability training.

Prerequisites: Principles of Law, Public Safety, Corrections and Security, Touch System Data Entry
