Eaglecrest High School – CE Intro to Sociology
Mar 2026 · 2nd Semester
Sociology is not just a subject to be studied, but a field to be explored and experienced. This course analyzes factors that influence, unite, and divide society, exploring how people form identity through groups and interactions. The topics covered, such as family, culture, socialization, race, gender, social movements, crime and deviance, and societal attitudes toward death and dying, are all around us. The basic foundation of sociology is the belief that all relationships and institutions impact people's attitudes, actions, and opportunities. This course not only covers how humans interact with each other and how social structures (groups, communities, organizations) shape human behavior, but students also actively participate in shaping the course through class debates, seminars, small group discussions, individual writing responses, and creative projects. This concurrent enrollment (dual enrollment) course is a statewide Guaranteed Transfer course (GT).
