This course focuses on the principles, concepts, and use of complex graphic tools used in the fi eld of architecture, structural systems, and construction trades. Emphasis is placed on the use of computer assisted design (CAD) tools in the creation of fl oor plans, wall sections, and elevation drawings. English language arts, mathematics, and science are reinforced. This honors course extends the standard course to a higher, more challenging level. Students can expect to complete focused assignments and create a portfolio. Work-based learning strategies appropriate for this course include apprenticeship, cooperative education, internship, and job shadowing. SkillsUSA competitive events, community service, and leadership activities provide the opportunity to apply essential standards and workplace readiness skills through authentic experiences.
