This course covers basic masonry terminology and develops technical aspects of the masonry industry with emphasis on the development of introductory skills to include the introduction to masonry, masonry tools and equipment, measurement, drawings and specifi cations, mortar procedures, and masonry units and installation techniques. Mathematics and English language arts are reinforced. Work-based learning strategies appropriate for this course include apprenticeship, cooperative education, internship, and job shadowing. SkillsUSA competitive events, community service, and leadership activities provide the opportunity to apply essential standards and workplace readiness skills through authentic experiences. Due to potentially hazardous processes and equipment, a maximum enrollment of 20 is recommended.
