E E Smith High – Chinese IV Honors

This course offers continuing instruction in listening, speaking, reading, and writing, emphasizing consolidating basic conversational skills and improving reading confi dence and depth. Chinese I, II, III, and IV form a sequence. Upon completing this course, students should be able to speak in Chinese and have some fl uency in essential conversational topics. Read texts composed in both simplifi ed and traditional characters and write short compositions using these characters. Classes will be conducted in Mandarin. A proficiency exam will be given at the end of the course. Note: Course is offered only at Seventy-First High, South View High, and Westover High Schools.
Prerequisites: Chinese Ill Honors and language profi ciency
