This course is designed to extend student interests in all aspectsof aviation while preparing students to take the formal groundrequisite exam for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) FAAAirman Knowledge Test which is required to obtain a privatepilot's license. The rigor of the course challenges students withcomplex aeronautical, engineering, weather, management andjudgement concepts. Rules, regulations, obligations, andcommitments to discipline and focus are foundational throughoutthe course. The ability to grasp flight without actually flying a realaircraft extends well beyond the classroom as students learnnavigation, weather science, attention to detail (mathematicalfuel and load planning), health and mental well-being related toflight planning and piloting aircraft.
