Prerequisite: Physical Education II Credit: 1 unit, Weight: +.5 This course focuses on optimizing athletic performance through the study of movement mechanics, strength training principles, and reducing injury. Students will apply biomechanical and kinesiology principles to improve muscle activation, velocity, and force, while learning proper resistance training techniques, exercise programming, and nutrition. Emphasizing safety, progression, and fitness testing sessions, the honors course challenges students to design individualized workout plans based on their physical abilities and needs. Students will integrate knowledge from biology, anatomy, and kinesiology, complete focused assignments, and create portfolios to demonstrate their learning. LIFETIME FITNESS HONORS
