Dougherty Valley High – PE - Independent Study

The ISPE course must develop proficiency, knowledge, and skills that cannot be achieved within the in-school physical education program. Year-long goals must be developed with the ISPE coach/instructor and student to reflect unique growth through their ISPE program and align with the California State Physical Education Standards and Physical Fitness Test requirements. Students must apply to take ISPE. In order to qualify, the physical activity must be an individual sport (team sports are not permitted) AND student must meet one of the following criteria: ISPE Application & Timeline - Student is an exceptionally gifted athlete who is competing at the regional, state, or national competition level within the school year in an individual sport.- Student has an impacted schedule due to a special academic support program.- Student wishes to take an advancement level PE course the school is not offering.- Student is medically prohibited from participating in regular PE for the entire school year.
