This course examines the basic principles and methods important to the study of human interaction in society. The American Sociological Association’s (ASA) National Standards for High School Sociology provide guidance for introductory high school classes. Emphasis is placed on the study of Sociological Perspectives and Methods of Inquiry; Social Structure: Culture; Social Structure: Socialization and Social Structure; Society; Groups; Organizations; Deviance; and Social Control; Stratification and Inequality; Social Institutions; and Social Change. Some controversial topics may be discussed.
