The purpose of this course is to further the IB students' knowledge of the rudiments of music and its study, using the techniques of listening, performing and composing implemented through use of keyboard, computer-assisted instruction and/or other performance media. This course will further develop a historical perspective of music from the Plainsong Era to present day, develop an awareness of the multicultural aspect of music, and further develop social skills and further formal study of music through the conducting and directing of ensembles. This course will also prepare the IB student for further the formal study of the science of music in higher education. Students will take SL IB Assessment. Costs and/or fees may be required. After school rehearsals, performances, and/or instruction are a part of this course.
