Curie Metropolitan High School – Advanced Computer Software Applications I

In this intermediate level course, students will increase their understanding of technology and the skills needed to operate the equipment most used in the business environment. Students will learn the concepts and procedures for using today's most popular business software, Microsoft 2000 including First Publisher. Through the use of classroom instruction, students will receive skills for entry-level positions and prepare to continue their education in a post-secondary institution. Students will develop proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, database management, graphics, presentations and desktop publishing applications. In keeping with the need to expand students skills for the workplace beyond the computer competencies, much classroom time will be devoted to the development of those soft skills as outlined in SCANS.
