County Administrative Annex – Latin III Honors
Mar 2026 · 2nd Semester
Latin III is the bridge between the language-focused classes of Latin I and Latin II and Latin IV, which explores the literature of those who spoke Latin. Latin III will spend about half the Year adding to our understanding of the Latin language and will then begin to transition into our first explorations of Latin literature. We will read topics as varied as the comedic poems of Martial, the fables of Aesop, and Medieval adventure stories. Throughout this whole process, we will continue to develop our understanding of Latin syntax, grammar, and vocabulary, as well as the cultural expectations of the Roman and Medieval worlds. Our study of mythology and history will bring us into the Roman empire and the stories that they found meaningful, like that of Hercules or Castor and Pollux.
Prerequisites: Successful completion of Latin II
