Coronado High School – Beginning Instruments 1,2

This Level 1 music course does not require any previous experience and serves as an introduction to the basics of performing an instrument from the woodwind, brass, or percussion instrument families. Students prepare for and participate in concerts, developing skills specific to the instrument they play. The course includes note reading, beginning music theory, tone production, instrument care, and the importance of consistent practice habits. Public performances outside of the school day may be required and students will demonstrate a knowledge of performance etiquette while working together in an ensemble. There is one performance in May. There is a $$ 30$ fee and students can use a school-owned instrument for a once year charge $$ 35$ usage fee or provide an instrument of their own and will be required to wear black pants, black shirt, and black shoes for all concerts.
