Coronado High School – CONSTRUCTION TECH 5,6 – Carpentry

The Career in Construction: Carpentry curriculum integrates contextual, work-based learning with vocational and academic skills training in the classroom. Students will learn the fundamentals of structural design and framing. Construct and finish roofs, walls, windows, doors, stairs, and more in a HBI pre-apprentice carpentry program. Identify common materials used in carpentry. Use hand and power tools safely to cut and mold material into specific shapes. Get the basics on constructions codes, reading blueprints, and preparing for the inspection process. PACT graduates learn the skills needed to be successful from their first day on the job. This class includes building a home on-site but other levels of the program may also be involved as appropriate. Certification available.
