Prerequisites: Biology This course emphasizes the impact of major changes in the environment and critical environmental issues related to society and technology. Students will study a variety of topics that include biotic and abiotic factors in habitats, ecosystems and biomes, interrelationships among resources and an environmental system, sources, and flow of energy through an environmental system, relationship between carrying capacity and changes in populations and ecosystems, and changes in environments. Emphasis of these topics is given to the relationships and responsibilities of humans to their environment and resources in and around their community. Student investigations will emphasize accurate observations, collection of data, data analysis, and the safe manipulation of laboratory apparatus and materials in the lab.
