Aerospace engineers are involved in space exploration, the development of commercial airliners, military jets, and helicopters. This class uses activity-based problem-solving methods related to aerospace systems to provide students with opportunities to explore the world of aeronautics. Through hands-on engineering projects developed with NASA, students learn about aerodynamics, piloting, air traffic control, astronautics, and rocketry propulsion. 7940 Engineering Design & Problem Solving (Honors/GT), 1 credit (state) Endorsement: Business & Industry or STEM Notes: $20 class fee; application required. Location: CBHS; students must provide their own transportation. This course builds on the knowledge and skills students learned in previous Project Lead the Way engineering courses. Instruction will emphasize advanced principles of engineering processes and the development of three-dimensional solid models. Students will work in teams to research, create, design, and construct unique and original solutions to real-world engineering problems. The student’s final project/solutions will be presented to and evaluated by a panel of community engineers and school personnel.

Prerequisites: Engineering Design Process (formally Introduction to Engineering Design); Algebra II or concurrent enrollment in Algebra II required. Endorsement: Business & Industry or STEM
