Clear Lake High School – Digital Electronics (Honors/GT)

This course introduces students to applied digital logic, a key element of careers in electrical engineering and engineering technology. This course explores the smart circuits found in watches, calculators, video games, and computers. Students will use industry-standard computer software to test and analyze digital circuitry. They will learn how to transform written design specifications into things like robots or computer networks – areas that are at the very forefront of technological innovation. In this course, students will learn how to design residential and commercial buildings from the ground up. Students will go through the steps an architect or engineer must go through when developing a project. Using state of the art software to solve real-world problems through projects and activities, students will produce drawings, renderings, and scaled models for architectural purposes and will also learn about key strategies in the up-and-coming construction field of high performance “green” technology. They will learn what it takes to make properties, structures, and landscapes come to life and what makes a design withstand the test of time.
