This is the first course in a sequence of 3 courses designed to provide introductory skills and a basic understanding of the metal technology and machining industry. Students will learn about career opportunities and requirements for entry into the metal manufacturing industry. Topics covered will include recognizing metal types, shop safety, hand tools, sheet metal, measurements, and understanding blueprints. Basic welding techniques and sandcasting. Student will learn operation of CNC vertical milling machines, CNC lathes, hydraulic shears, CNC press brake, and the manual Mill and Lathe.
Prerequisites: Manufacturing Engineering Technology or Principles of Manufacturing Endorsement: Business & Industry
