Spectators of sports and entertainment are customers. Planning products or services and enticing these customers to buy is sports and entertainment marketing. In this course, students investigate promotions, advertising, sales, event marketing, and sponsorships as they relate to a diverse population and global society. Students will develop promotional plans, sponsorship proposals, endorsement contracts, and sports and entertainment marketing plans. Students will also explore career options in the sports and entertainment marketing areas. Grade Level(s): 9-12 Prerequisite(s): None. Included in Class Ranking GPA: No NCAA Approved Core Course: No This course is designed as a comprehensive introduction to the principles and practices of marketing utilizing social media. Students will gain knowledge of techniques used in current advertising, including print and broadcast media. The social, ethical, and legal issues of advertising, historical influences, strategies, media decision processes as well as integrated marketing communications will be explored. The course provides an overview of how communication tools can be used in an attempt to reach target audiences and increase consumer knowledge.
