Clear Brook High School – 5501H American Sign Language I (Honors/GT)

emphasizes interpersonal communication to achieve communicative competence. Students taking this class start to use circumlocution and classifiers to communicate. Students will develop expressive and receptive sign skills at a greater depth, answer questions, and learn the principles of ASL syntax and grammar. ASL I Honors also provides information about the history of sign language and introduces students to the culture of the American Deaf community. This course is designed to lay the foundation for students planning to take the ASLPI (Performance Interview).
