The cosmetology program is a two-year sequence of courses designed to provide job-specific training that will prepare the student to become a licensed cosmetologist. The introductory course consists of orientation to cosmetology, fundamentals of cosmetology, chemical reformation, and related theory of artistry of hair, and manicures. Cosmetology I is designed to provide job-specific training for employment in cosmetology careers. Instruction includes sterilization and sanitation procedures, hair care, nail care, and skin care. The students practice introductory hair design, cutting practices, and daily maintenance related to salon operations. This course meets the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) requirements for licensure. Grade Level(s): 12 Prerequisite(s): Cosmetology I. This program meets all the Texas Department of Licensing & Regulation requirements for licensure upon passing the state exam.
