Clay Center Elementary School – CONSTRUCTION TRADES A

This advanced construction course in small-space design and tiny home construction will immerse students in a variety of construction careers.  From the design table to the last nail, students will build a tiny home that will be sold to a home buyer. Project management requires all students interested in this course to have good time management skills and the ability to be self-directed.  Students will be involved with planning, designing, material purchasing, construction, and marketing of the tiny home construction project. Students will be expected to learn several trades throughout the course. All students will gain experience with building codes, blueprint reading, professional documentation, as well as safety standards and practices.  A positive attitude and willingness to get involved is required of all students in this course in order to complete the project in the time frame of a school year.  This is a required course in the Construction Trades Pathway. Students should be motivated toward exploring a related career to manufacturing, and students must have: - Great attendance with no discipline issues. - Time management skills. - A positive attitude and strong work ethic. - The ability to be self-directed, take initiative and get involved.
