Topics include book handling, letter identification, sight words, environmental signs, and reading comprehension skills. Tailored to individual student IEP goals and learning levels.

Instruction using the Ablenet Equals Curriculum covering pre-math skills, numbers and operations, matching and sorting, and foundational math concepts. Includes use of math manipulatives, understanding of quantity, number identification, and basic operations. Adapted to individual student levels and IEP goals.

Systematic instruction in functional communication including turn-taking, intentional communication of acceptance/rejection, requesting preferences and necessary tools, answering questions, indicating feelings/discomfort, and AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) system use across multiple contexts and communication partners. Progress tracked through Essential Skills internal documents.

Community-based instruction and practical life skills training to support independence in daily living activities including clothing management, hygiene, grooming, dressing, and environmental awareness. Skills are embedded in authentic contexts to promote generalization and independence.

Instruction and support in physical skills including transfers, mobility (walking with/without devices, wheelchair), positioning, toileting, self-feeding with adaptations, and bus transportation skills. All students receive support based on their individualized needs and physical capabilities.

Foundational instruction in responding to voices/sounds, physical contact tolerance, directional awareness, eye contact, body awareness, cause and effect relationships, name recognition, joint attention, imitation, and following directions. Essential for students with significant disabilities.

Mobile coffee shop program where students gain real-world job experience through taking orders, preparing beverages, serving customers, handling payments, and customer service. Students operate at various school locations and community partners to develop employment skills and community integration.

Work experience internships at local establishments including restaurants (table cleaning), Churchill Downs (watering plants), and Louisville Zoo (handing out maps). Provides hands-on vocational training in real community settings.

Comprehensive transition program for students focusing on post-secondary outcomes including employment, community living, and post-secondary education. Features job shadowing, work experience, community-based instruction, and preparation for successful transition to adulthood including day program placement, supported employment opportunities, residential planning, and community integration.

In-house speech therapy provided by on-site service providers to support communication development, language skills, and functional communication abilities.

In-house physical therapy provided by on-site service providers to support mobility, physical development, gross motor skills, and functional movement.
