Cherry Creek High School – CP Recent America: 1945 to Present

This course will study major social, political, and military events which occurred in American History during the period 1945 to present. Examples of topics covered are the Cold War through the fall of the Soviet Union, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, the culture of the 1950s and 1960s, the Kennedy assassination, the Watergate scandal, the Civil Rights movement, and the Women’s Rights movement. The United State’s role in the Middle East during this time period and the events of 9/11 will also be studied in depth. Current events related to these topics will also be studied in order to understand their impact on our world today.
Prerequisites: Sophomores must be concurrently enrolled in or successfully completed a world history course.
