In this interdisciplinary course, students will read and analyze mythology from around the world to understand patterns of cultural human development and thought. Students will undergo a comparative analysis of myths from various cultures, with special emphasis being placed on ancient Greek, Norse, Native American, and Egyptian mythologies. Creation myths, hero stories, and epics from several world mythologies are included. Students will also be exposed to modern adaptations of myths in music, art, literature, film, etc. to evaluate how each version compares to the original myth.
