Celebration High School – Orchestra 1

This is a performance-based course designed for students with little or no prior experience. The curriculum focuses on the development of rudimentary string techniques, music literacy, and ensemble skills through the study of diverse, high-quality orchestral literature. Because this is a performance-driven curriculum, participation in all scheduled concerts and assessments are an essential component of the course grade. The rehearsals and performances outside the school day extend and assess learning in the classroom. Students in this class may need to obtain (e.g., borrow, rent, purchase) an instrument from an outside source. Students will have the opportunity to audition for the intermediate/advanced orchestra at the end of the year.
