Cedar Park High School – Art I, Art Appreciation

This course is a general introduction to the visual arts designed to create an appreciation of the vocabulary, media, techniques, and purposes of the creative process. Students will critically interpret and evaluate works of art within formal, cultural and historical contexts. Art II: Alternative Media & Processes students will work as a collaborative group to direct their own large-scale art projects. These projects will be created using alternative media and processes covered in this course. This may include such processes as fiber art, bricolage (creating art from any materials that come to hand), jewelry making, bookbinding, performance/video art, mixed media, large-scale installations, etc. Student will become voiced in contemporary art practices through exposure to historical artists and experimentation with these alternative processes.
