This course is designed as a post-AP English Course. It is a survey of world literature along with a comparative study of universal themes in literature and the history of language. Analyzing novels, plays, poetry, essays and short fiction, students read broadly both for philosophical concerns, stylistic and formal issues. M/S English 12 also includes studying effective communication in all forms of expression and practical skills for the working or the academic world through engaging in several forms of language study – rhetorical analysis, style evaluation, literary criticism, vocabulary and grammar studies. These courses are a three-year sequence geared toward enrollment in Advanced Placement Calculus or alternative mathematics.  Using an integrated approach, these courses explore major topics in Geometry, Algebra 2, Trigonometry and Mathematical Analysis.  There is an additional emphasis in supporting the Physics curriculum while preparing for further advanced math courses in high school.  Students strengthen critical thinking skills through interdisciplinary problem solving while learning how to provide clear and concise arguments with evidence and support. (Prerequisite: MA320 Algebra)
