Carver College and Career Academy – Fundamental Literacy III

This course is designed to provide direct, explicit and intensive literacy instruction to students with disabilities who are reading significantly below grade level. Objectives of this course are focused on closing the gap between the student's present level of performance and the level of performance needed to successfully access the general curriculum. Enrollment in this course is an IEP team decision. This course is designed for students with disabilities who are instructed and assessed on the Virginia Essentialized Standards of Learning (VESOL). Students develop practical math skills needed for daily living, community participation, and future employment. Instruction focuses on number sense, money management, time, measurement, and problem-solving in real-world contexts to build independence and confidence.
