Capistrano Union High – Beginning Personal Finance

Personal Finance is a math class designed primarily for students who have completed 2 years of high school math. It meets the 3rd year of math required for High School Graduation. This course does not meet the UC A-G requirements. The class curriculum will focus on the financial concepts needed to succeed after high school. This included an emphasis on the math concepts needed to understand personal finance, and on real-world research/projects (such as making a personal budget, purchasing a car, using a bank account). It includes topics such as: managing money (bank accounts, income), managing expenses (taxes, loans, credit cards), and making financial decisions (buying a car, housing costs, insurance, investing).
Prerequisites: Pass Algebra 1
