This course is specifically designed to provide the skills and knowledge needed to enter a successful career in the Hospitality Management industry Using the nationally recognized curriculum designed by the Michigan Restaurant and Lodging Association, and the American Hotel and Lodging Association , students gain hands-on experience in the areas of hospitality marketing, customer service, dining room service, in addition to creating schedules, and organizing real events that take into consideration all of the elements of event planning in this business. Students are trained in a commercial restaurant space, using the same equipment and technology found in the workplace. Students will also explore in depth the economic impact of hospitality and tourism on society and culture. The will also learn and discuss human resources, safety, and legal aspects of management in the hospitality industry. Students will also gain in- depth understanding and experience of the elements of a successful lodging, tourism, and recreation industries. In this project-based curriculum, students will utilize their new-found skills to create, organize, and host actual events within the community. Qualifies for Applied Art, Applied Mathematics or $2 ^ { \\mathsf { n d } }$ year of World Language credit.
