Canton High School – Honors Humanities

This is a college preparatory, interdisciplinary course focusing on the literature, religion, philosophy, theater, art, music, dance, and history of Western civilization from prehistory to the present. What is good? What is true? What is beautiful? Student-philosophers explore these and other questions in discussion seminars with works such as Plato’s Republic, Dante’s Inferno, Bach’s music, and the paintings of Renaissance masters. Coursework will challenge students to make connections across genres and cultures. College-level reading and exams are combined with experiential learning through role-play, fine and performing arts activities, and creative research projects. Students should expect to present and engage in collaborative projects with peers frequently. Qualifies for Communication graduation requirement and Applied Arts credit
