Canton High School – Honors Debate

Debate develops skills in critical thinking “on your feet,” topic selection, analysis, research, logic, case construction, refutation and the successful presentation of persuasive information. The course activities center on classroom debates on current issues which include extensive reading and writing. This is an excellent class for college-bound students regardless of their field of study. Note: While prior public speaking experience is not required for this class, it is very helpful. We strongly recommend Public Speaking before taking Debate if the student has had little instruction or experience in public speaking.
