This course is for students who have successfully completed Introduction to Educational Careers. Do you enjoy working with children? Thinking about a career in child care or education? This course will create many opportunities for you. In this course you will learn about meeting the needs of diverse students, how to plan and prepare lessons and what it really takes to become a successful child care professional or teacher. You will put your knowledge to work in classrooms and/ or out-of-school day activities and care facilities while continuing to work toward one of the following career-ready credentials: Child Development Associate Credential (CDA). Or Michigan Youth Development Credential (MI-YDA). \*Students will need to present proof of a negative TB test per State licensing requirements. Successful completion of this pathway will result in either a Child Development Associate Credential (CDA), which will qualify the student as a lead teacher in a preschool program upon graduation, or a Michigan Youth Development Associate Credential (MI-YDA), which will qualify the student for above-entry-level positions and pay in out-of-school day programs and daycare. Pursuing either credential will provide the student a myriad of experiences with children.
