Canton High SchoolAP 2D Art and Design Portfolio (drawing)

Mar 2026 · 2nd Semester

All students must complete an application and submit a portfolio to be approved by the art department before signing up for the class. This class is designed for the motivated student interested in the serious study of drawing and 2D design. This course is designed around three areas of focus. The concentration section demonstrates a depth of investigation and process of discovery. The breadth section demonstrates a serious grounding in visual principles and material techniques. The quality section demonstrates the works that best exhibit a synthesis of form, technique, and content. This course requires significant studio assignments to be completed at home with the student’s own materials. Submission of a portfolio consisting of 24 pieces of work, written critiques, historical research and an Artist Statement are required for the successful completion of this course. Students will be prepared for AP 2D Art and Design Portfolio exam. In May, students may submit their portfolio for review by College Board. A fee is required for this review.
