# Physical Education and Health Courses --- | --- | --- of physical fitness and provide the student with the opportunities to develop anddemonstrate competency in at least two lifetime activities including individual, partner,and team sports as outlined in the South Carolina Physical Education Standards. Thestudent will assess his/her physical fitness level, develop a personal fitness program, anda nutrition plan, and document his/her program through participation in physical activityinside and outside the physical education class.During the personal fitness unit, the following state legislated Comprehensive HealthEducation topics should be included: Reproductive Health Education, Sexual Abuse andAssault Education, and instruction in cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and the use ofan automated external defibrillator (AED).This course meets the adopted South Carolina Standards for Physical Education and isthe foundation course for all other physical education courses. This course meets thephysical education graduation requirement. JROTC 1 or a SCDE-approved MarchingBand with Physical Education course may substitute for Physical Education 1, howeverPersonal Health and Wellness would need to be taken.PE 1 cannot have honors academic weighting. |
