Band courses help students develop techniques for playing brass, woodwind, and/orpercussion instruments and their ability to perform a variety of band literature styles.These courses may emphasize rehearsal and performance experiences in a range of styles(e.g., concert, marching, orchestral, and modern) and also include experiences in creatingand responding to music. Formal and informal performances may be included as part ofband instructional programs. Specific course content should align with existing standardsfor visual and performing arts proficiency. Marching Band PE | Course Code: 45NO | 1Unit Marching Band with PE meets the PE standards and curriculum. Students must also take0.5 credit Personal Health and Wellness to meet SC graduation requirements.This course provides opportunities to develop basic fundamentals of instrumental music.There are requirements for this course outside of the regular school day. Students willparticipate in concerts and will have opportunities to perform at other events. After schoolrehearsals may be required. Students must provide their own instrument. Color Guardstudents are also able to enroll.
Prerequisites: Must have a middle school Band background. Consult theDirector if needed.
