111 requirements of the participating local technical college for dual enrollment | Emergency Medical Services (EMS) 3 can be used as an EMT certification course.Emergency Medical Technician (EMT- EMS 3) serves as an entry level course inprofessional health careers. EMT/EMS 3 provides students with the knowledge and skillsfor the emergency medical field. This course may be offered as a dual enrollment coursewith the local technical college or may be offered on a high school campus with a DHEC(Department of Health and Environmental Control) approved EMT instructor. This coursecan be offered for seniors in high school who are at least 17 years old. Students may takethe test prior to their 18th birthday but must be at least 18 years of age and a high schoolgraduate to receive their NREMT certification. Successful completion of this courseprovides an opportunity for students to become registered nationally (NREMT) along withthe opportunity to apply for state certification.
Prerequisites: Emergency Medical Services 2 course and completion of HealthScience Human Structure, Function, and Disease or Anatomy and Physiology
