Caldwell Heights Elementary – American Sign Language ASL IV (Advanced)

In ASL IV Advanced, students will expand their ability to perform advanced tasks with greater accuracy and fluency in American Sign Language. Emphasis will be placed on sustaining conversations across a variety of topics, delivering detailed narratives, and engaging in more sophisticated discourse, such as debates, presentations, and storytelling. Students will also strengthen their understanding of Deaf culture, history, and contemporary issues through authentic materials and community perspectives. The expected outcome of this course is to develop Intermediate-Mid to Advanced-Low proficiency. This course is conducted primarily in ASL (without voice).
Prerequisites: Successful completion of American Sign Language (ASL) level III or demonstrated equivalent proficiency as determined by the district.
