The mariachi ensemble is a musical organization for wind, string and vocal students. Emphasis is on the development of cultural growth, critical listening, basic music theory, instructional technique, and creative self-expression through performance. Additionally, students work on mental and physical discipline and citizenship through group endeavors. Students must furnish personal instruments for violin, flute, accordion, and trumpet. Guitarrons, vihuelas, harp, and guitars are provided. Membership in a large ensemble (band, choir, and orchestra) is required for participation in mariachi ensemble. Attendance at all rehearsals and performances is required. Students may be required to furnish informal concert attire (camisolas, black slacks, belts, botines) which can be acquired from a vendor prior to the start of the school year. Formal uniforms are provided. Mariachi ensemble may not be offered every semester at every campus. A course fee is required. Participation at all out-of-school rehearsals and performances is required. Fees may be applicable for all Fine Arts Courses. Check with your campus for more information.
