Brooks College Prep Academy High School – AP Studio: 2D Design

This advanced course challenges students to develop a personal and cohesive body of work that demonstrates mastery of 2D design principles through digital media, photography, and mixed media. Students will explore composition, visual storytelling, and conceptual development while refining technical skills in digital imaging, photo manipulation, and other design processes. Through research, critique, and iterative creation, students will analyze historical, social, and cultural influences on art while forming their own artistic voice. Emphasis is placed on the art-making process, experimentation, and sustained investigation of a central theme. Students will prepare and submit a portfolio for AP evaluation, meeting the rigorous standards of the AP 2D Design Portfolio. The course fosters independent thinking, critical analysis, and innovative problem-solving, preparing students for creative careers and further study in visual arts.
