This foundational course introduces students to the dynamic interactions of Earth’s systems while building connections to aerospace, geospatial technologies, logistics, and sustainable energy. Through an interdisciplinary lens, students explore core concepts from earth science, geology, environmental science, and geography, with an emphasis on human-environment interactions and global sustainability. Students will investigate topics such as Earth’s structure and processes, weather and climate systems, natural resources, and environmental change, while learning to apply Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and geospatial tools to real-world challenges. Hands-on labs, data analysis, and project-based learning experiences will help students develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills relevant to 21st-century STEM pathways. As the anchor course for the Specialty Center, Geosystems provides the scientific and technical foundation students will draw upon in advanced studies in aerospace, geospatial technologies, logistics, and sustainable energy.
