Brooke Point High – Master Barbering I

Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation (DPOR). Barbering is the study of hair, scalp, and skin. Students study and prepare in a clinical lab setting, using mannequins and live models for manipulative practice. The program emphasizes safety and sanitation, communication, and management skills. Related areas of study include physiology, ethics, and professional image. Students develop skills in hair shaping, finger waves, and face shaving. Students also learn sterilization, hygiene and bacteriology principles. Successful completion of required state competencies and hours prepare the students for the Master Barbering II program. A student must have earned a score of 70% or higher and earned a minimum of 325 hours in Master Barbering I to advance on to Master Barbering II. Schools offering course: MVHS
