Brandon High School – Veterinary Assisting 1 Honors
Mar 2026 · 2nd Semester
Veterinary Assisting is an exciting course featuring hands on work with animals. Because of the academic content, it is recommended that Vet students have scored at least a Level 3 on the FSA ELA. Students with lower test scores are welcome in Veterinary Assisting, but should first take Agriculture Foundations 1 or Animal Science 2 prior to Veterinary Assisting 1. This course is designed to develop competencies in areas such as the history of the animal industry; applied scientific and technological concepts; ecosystems; safety; and human relations skills. Students study the basics of veterinary medicine through many hands on activities involving the feeding and care of animals, understanding basic medical terminology and developing an appreciation for how a veterinary office is run. FFA and HOSA are an important part of this program.
