Brandeis High School – Avid
Mar 2026 · 2nd Semester
Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) is an academic elective course that prepares students for college-readiness and success. Curriculum consists of tutor-facilitated study groups, motivational activities and academic success skills, with a focus on writing, inquiry, collaboration, organization, and reading to support their academic growth. Students who complete a full year of AVID 1 (MS) through AVID 12 are exempt from Comm Apps. Students enrolled in AVID 12 can take Health through Credit Acceleration if the traditional Health class does not fit in their schedule.
Prerequisites: Application and interview. Students selected to enroll in AVID must also enroll in at least one Advanced Academics course. Only courses labeled as Advanced, Advanced Placement (AP), Dual Credit (DC), or OnRamps meet this requirement.
