and ensemble performance skills, and related musical knowledge, using a variety of advanced piano literature. Students explore the historical infl uence keyboards have had on music performance and composition, and apply criteria to assess their own and others' piano performances. Students extend their knowledge of music technology (i.e., MIDI keyboards) and its connection to the computer and other sound-generating devices. Public performances may serve as a culmination of specifi c instructional goals. Students may be required to attend and/or participate in rehearsals and performances outside the school day to support, extend, and assess learning in the classroom.
