Benjamin Stoddert Middle – American Sign Language 1

This Level 1 course offers an engaging introduction to American Sign Language (ASL) and Deaf culture. Students will develop foundational signing skills and learn essential grammatical principles through interactive, visual-gestural communication techniques. By the end of the course, they will be able to perform basic conversational tasks, such as introducing themselves, asking questions, and sharing simple information. The course also provides insight into Deaf cultural norms, values, and behaviors, fostering a deeper appreciation and understanding of the Deaf community.
